Get Ubuntu Hoary

Go get it! Just released, hot cakes!!!

I don’t remember waiting for something with such anxiety. I can’t wait for the reviews. I probably know everything they are going to say, but I still can’t wait to read the good things. 5.04 (Hoary) is amazing. I know since I have been using it for a while now.

Will Hoary bring my sick linux diplay(suffering from 82845 driver deficiency) back to life again ??

Ashwin, I beat Matt Zimmerman, since he posted about it an hour later (different time-zone from me) :)

Staying up in the night helps, sometimes.

    conceptnext,

I have no clue whether it will work off the bat with that graphics controller. It depends on whether X.org now supports or treats the card better. Why don’t you try the live cd to see if it works and then install ubuntu if it works fine?

Sorry dude, I feel really bad about not being able to fix that problem the last time I tried :(

    Conceptnext, see
    http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCards

It says ” If it only use 640×480 change in the BIOS shared Video Memoory from only 1MB to 8MB”. So try it out :)

I remember getting your display to work at 640×480.

    Thanks Carthik.
Changing the BIOS video memory finally did the trick. This is the first time I am actually using a complete linux sytem with display, sound and wireless connectivity on my Travelmate.
