Asteroid Douglas Adams

A friend tells me that an asteroid has been named after Douglas Adams. What’s funny is that the temporary name, or “working” name for that Asteroid was “2001 DA42”, and so it really seems like it was there to be named after Douglas Adams all along. 2001 was the year we lost him, and 42 is the now famous answer to life, the universe and everything.

    It’s been a while since I read the book, but the movie that was based on it was as close of an adaptation as one hoped it to be, I thought.

    It was still all right, but what makes a screenwriter so sure of his abilities that he thinks he can improve on a timeless classic? Seriously. Some of the best movies that were novels/short stories first before they became movies were copied down to a tee (Silence Of The Lambs, Stand By Me), and I am convinced that’s why they were such hits.
