Entanglement breakthrough – First successful practical Experiment

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Teleportation breakthrough made
explains how scientists and engineers at two universities in Austria and the U.S. have successfully – now hold your breath – been able to “transfer key properties of one particle to another without using any physical link“!!

This is really far from Teleportation or anything of that kind, but I am excited about this as it is the first practical demonstration of controlled Quantum Entanglement

Imagine transmitting any kind of property instantaneously, without using a physical medium, in a non-interceptible manner. Instantenously as in, at the same time. Even Light waves are bound by the speed of light, so are all kinds of waves we know. This here deals with transmitting information of a kind instantly between, say distances of the magnitude of hundreds of thousands of miles.

The almost immediate implications maybe in building ultra-fast computers, but I can see how a cryptographer can develop this technology to build the ultimate cryptographic system, with perfect trust between the communicating parties.

Maybe I will be 35 by the time the technology matures, but maybe it will take place over next two years. It is something to look forward to, at least, and something exciting.
